Hi and welcome... And relax. His accident will not affect your driving record....your insurance in your personal vehicle, yes. But not your driving record. Getting hired from a 1099 doing Uber may be a greater hurdle.
Apply everywhere and see who accepts you. Be prepared to submit your tax documents to prove employment.
Don't bother with a local school that will take your money and not give a damn if you have other hurdles to jump. Look into a company sponsored program and get real training.

CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
BMI:
Body mass index (BMI)
BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
- Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
- Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Hello TruckingTruth Forum, I'm Robert.
I'm almost 28 and in January, I decided that I wanted to get serious about pursuing my CDL , and began looking into avenues of being able to get into school. I'm a DoorDasher and Medical Courier currently, which makes good money, however it is getting really old as a gig, and I am wanting to begin my transition into a career. I love driving and don't mind spending all day in a car or truck, I'm just getting tired of photographing every aisle of a supermarket so someone can decide what kind of candy they want, 45 minutes of bad photography for 15 dollars.
On April 5, I tapped a car in front of me and the other driver told me that we shouldn't involve the police and that my insurance should have taken care of it. My insurance deemed me at fault, and I moved on with life, a little concerned that it might affect my chances of getting into the trucking industry.
On the morning of July 4th, I asked a friend to help me transfer my three cars to a new address I would be living at; moving had cleaned out my bank account and I wasn't feeling like taking a couple Uber rides. Fresh off his graveyard shift, he fell asleep at the wheel of one of my cars and smacked a parked car. I made certain to tell my insurance he had done it, and the person he hit informed her insurance the same. I got the email today with the documents a claim was made on my insurance, but it never used the term 'you are deemed at fault'. The police didn't show up due to no one being injured.
I really don't want to wait three years from yesterday, to get my start in the industry. This has been a dream for such a time, and I need to get off the ground somehow. I am a fantastic driver and already spend 8-10 hours a day in my car, and I can keep it fixed enough to keep on working, like a bad episode of Top Gear.
Given my MVR is still clean, will one at fault accident, and another with someone crashing my car on my own policy, disqualify me from getting my CDL? I'm already too worried about what this is going to do to my premiums.
In the meantime I'm still going to keep working at this. I cleared my DOT medical exam, and I am going for my ELDT in the coming months.
I'm just losing so much sleep, over this.
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
DOT:
Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
MVR:
Motor Vehicle Record
An MVR is a report of your driving history, as reported from your state Department of Motor Vehicles. Information on this report may include Drivers License information, point history, violations, convictions, and license status on your driving record.
