Was in the left lane on 65 and had a car come to a complete stop in front of me to back up to the exit they missed. I came to a complete stop and watched my mirror to make sure I didn't get hit but a couple cars and trucks had to take the shoulder.

I just laid on the air horn the car kept backing up then stopped for a few seconds before finally taking off.

I also witnessed something that just blew me away. Traveling on 294 a few miles before the i88 exit. A Penske straight truck blows pass me and hand on the Bible the driver side mirror was completely busted off the door just dangling off to the side hanging on by a thread. Not only that he had cardboard covering most of his window. Just when you think you’ve seen it all.

I just feel fortunate each time to drive around up there and not need to dodge bullets. Crazy drivers around there.

Drove Eastbound on I-40 just inside Amarillo two days ago. Near MM 66, some tweaker looking bum was standing over the fog line on the left side of the freeway. I was in the middle lane. As I was driving past, the dude looked like he was going to throw something at my truck but instead ran out infront of traffic. Had to slam on my brakes to avoid killing him. He ran straight across toward the Amarillo mall. I called the Amarillo PD to report the incident. A lot of mentally unstable people out here.

I believe you, I had seen the exact same thing. Seen a box truck draging a brake chamber once. Some of these B truck operators around Chicago are nuts.

Now that would be scary. Glad you where able to miss him.

It seems to get crazier each year. All the major cities are completely stupid. I always feel blessed to get in/out in one piece. I was in downtown chicago on a 2 stop load yesterday. Crazy drivers everywhere. I went to monee to wash out and when they called me about a reload told me it was in Logansport IN and I thanked them for not getting a load north so I didn’t have to go across the city again. I keep my head on a swivel and mirrors extra clean in all major cities.

There ought to be a law against this type of driving. Oh, wait, there is! This is the flip side of the movement to defund the police. Do we want fewer police on the highways? Police presence is not a problem to those who obey the laws and safety regulations. I wish there was a trooper present when the incident described above happened. How many times have we as truck drivers thought “I wish a trooper had seen that”.

I’ve seen alot but I think your encounter takes the cake. That’s absolutely nuts and the worst part is it isn’t hard to believe

Bumping this thread because of what happened with me today. I had just left Dodge City on a two lane highway, headed east. About 4 miles east, I see another truck headed towards me in my lane. He was trying to pass a line of traffic and wasn’t going to make it. Fortunately, the shoulder is wide there, so I took to the shoulder and avoided the collision. But he was about 50% in my lane when we passed. And what did he gain? He was only 4 miles from the first Dodge City stoplight there by the Flying J. Maybe he gained 30 seconds by risking a catastrophic collision.

I’m sure if all the drivers here posted their “mind boggling stupid” experiences, this thread would go on forever.
