I'm new to the industry and trying to understand where I can store a tractor trailer when I'm not on the road. The city and neighbors don't seem fond of bringing it into town, but where do I leave my tractor and trailer then?

Want to better understand what everyone is doing and how this usually works.

Much depends on where you are planning to be off the truck.

Where are you located? I know StoreMyTruck.com has several yards in the southeast, including Atlanta GA. Paid secure parking, gated entry, electric fencing.

Are you a company driver? What company?

If you are a company driver you need to find out what their parking policy is. I’m assuming you are not an owner/operator, being you are new to the industry. Correct?

My company is cool with us just leaving the truck secure at a truck stop nearby my house for a few days. Some companies have terminals or drop yards for load splitting. It really is a case by case basis you will want to confirm with your driver manager.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Driver Manager:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
