You have been in the Phoenix area a decent amount, if I recall correctly from posts of yours. I am going to be arriving in Tolleson, AZ tomorrow afternoon, early evening. I am hoping to deliver this load early at the Tyson there because it's not due until Wednesday morning. Anticipating that I won't be able to deliver tomorrow, I have been scouting out places to park. My investigation so far reveals that the traditional truck stops in the area fill up quickly. I noticed a casino on RT 202 in Laveen that is shown on TruckerPath. Have you ever parked here? Is it worth making that my plan A with the anticipation that I won't get to a truck stop before the evening rush fills them up?

Our main terminal is in Phoenix so I never worry about parking there.

The casino off 202 can. There's plenty of street parking in Tolleson but it's risky finding it.

Does your company have an affiliate yard or a drop yard there?

Other places I know of are where 93 meets the 303 if you're going up to Vegas.

Out in front of the wallyworld dc in buckeye but it's on the road.

The loves and J are just packed 24/7.

There's a chevron at buckeye and 51rst that has a few spots too. Right by our terminal.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

No drop yard nor affiliated yard in this part of the country anywhere for my company. Usually only drivers who live out this way or teams get loads coming this far west out of my terminal. Either they wanted to throw me a bone after a bunch of sitting because of weather and breakdowns or they wanted to get this new truck on a good long run to see if any issues popped up. Nothing popping up so far. I have seen that check engine light staying on a little bit longer than I would like while the computer does its thing. It's had me thinking that it's not going off, a couple of times.

I timed my arrival in the area so that I wouldn't need as much time to park as I expected when I first started the thread. I found a BBQ place in Black Canyon City to park for the longer part of a split break. I am an hour away from my delivery, so this will enable me to have 10 hours of drive time for my reload after completing my split while being unloaded. I decided to it this way because I just knew that trying to find parking around Phoenix Metro would be a huge pain. Hopefully my reload doesn't require me to find parking in the area once empty. I haven't been given the details of the reload yet, but I know that it's some time tomorrow.

Glad to hear. Parking can be tricky around there, I hit a lot of the DCs in that area. The streets off of Buckley there for the most part have a lot of people park there. There isn't a lot parking close to the metro area but outside of it either.

Depending on where your routed out of the area, there's some really beautiful routes with some challenging terrain.

I am picking up down near Nogales (Rio Rico). Twice I have picked up here before plus once with my trainer, and I have so far always gone up to I-10 then over to Las Cruces. From there I catch US 70 going by the White Sands Missile testing area. I catch US 54 off US 70. I take US 54 all the way to Mullinville, KS where it connects with US 400. I catch KS-61 just east of Pratt, KS, which links up with US 50 just southwest of Hutchinson, KS. I stay on US 50 until I reach Emporia, KS. From there I either take I-335 or I-35, depending on traffic. To avoid St. Louis traffic, I catch US 54 off I-70 around Kingdom City, Mo and take that up to I-72. After that, my route will vary depending on destination. I am stopping first near Fort Wayne, IN, a stop that I haven't made before coming from south and west, so if anyone knows of good short cuts to make that part of the trip more direct, I am open to suggestions.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
