PS. Is there any correlation with the departure of “Momma” Anne to the decline? She was the welcome wagon and cheerleader rolled into one. She made me feel welcome here during my training.
Any effort being made to help her sort out her internet access issues so she can come back (assuming that she wants to)?

Dennis, I really appreciate you asking about Anne, very pertinent question that I have wondered about many times. I think Laura keeps in touch with Anne. It would be great having her back again and I think many here would be willing to help her if we knew what the issue is.
Anne has an Internet connection issue. There isn't much we can do about that
Maybe those of us with experience need to pipe up a bit more often and share things from our day to help keep it interesting instead of only responding to questions? I would imagine that would be useful info for those looking into trucking and interesting to the less experienced drivers in the forum to give them a better idea of what to look forward to as they continue to gain experience.
Good point. Exactly why we need more topics that are educational and about success stories. All of us have things we have learned, sometimes the hard way, that we can share.
I like Pianoman’s point and have a suggestion for Brett to ask his new group of Moderators to take on the task of posting a challenging discussion topic periodically to engage new drivers like me.
I agree wholeheartedly with this sentiment, which is to have experienced drivers tell stories, share their experiences, and bring up topics that are challenging and helpful to new drivers.
I admit I've fallen into the pattern of waiting for people to ask questions. I think we should be more proactive and bring up topics and experiences that are valuable to new drivers.
Excellent ideas by all! I encourage all of you to post new topics about your job and lifestyle regularly.

Okay, the internet connection problem has been mentioned before. But even people in third world countries manage to get internet. I think there is more to the story. If it’s a money issue what I would ask is this: how can I (or we) help?
There are a lot of rural areas that have limited Internet access.
If it's a money issue, that's not our business and it'd be disrespectful to pry and assume even if it's coming from a benevolent place.
We all take a hiatus every now and then. Nobody asks "why?", we just say "welcome back". When Anne is ready/able to come back, she will and she'll be welcomed back with open arms. Until then, we'll keep doing what we do.
Banks, I agree with what you say and it makes sense. But if being proactive in this instance would help, I would hope that Anne could get a message out.

Same. I've admittedly been less visible on the site for some time now, although I check in multiple times daily. Mostly I'm just busier at WM with less downtime in which to engage topics here. But I'll make an effort to come up with and produce more interesting content.
Anne had a traumatic event in her life a couple months ago and I think she is struggling with that.
She did get the Internet fixed and while it's not the best, she could get on TT easy enough. However it is springtime or trying to be, and she is busy doing stuff around the place.

I’ve noticed the decline of interesting “learning” topics, too. I’m glad that BK decided to return to the site after departing for awhile over a personality tiff. He is the one posting interesting “question” topics, even if obvious to experienced drivers.

Davy A’s recent posts about his typical day driving dry van was interesting and got me thinking how it correlated with reefer. Davy obviously puts in a lot of thought to his performance as a driver.
Dry Van:
A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.Reefer:
A refrigerated trailer.
