I'm studying to get my permit and plan on signing with Pepsico, since they will pay for the rest of my training. there is a plan 15 min from my house, but it doesn't look like they have the option for the permit application there. However they do have the option in Nashville (about 50 min away). Does anyone know if I sign for a year contract will I be able to transfer to the plant 15 min away from me after completing my training and getting my license?

Welcome to Trucking Truth, Michael!

I taught a CDL class at Pepsi's Knoxville location last year. (I'm not looking at a map, so I don't know if Knox. is near you.)

The in-company transfer is going to be a PepsiCo policy thing. That's a question to ask in a job interview.

Pepsi will require you to wear steel-toed shoes on the job, so get shopping!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I have nothing more to add. I just wanted to sound as cool as Errol by responding in his trademarked style😉
