How many of you go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas? I almost always get home for both holidays. I know some people get extra pay for being available during these times. What do you guys and gals choose to do?

Last year I worked during Thanksgiving and took extra time off at Christmas. It's easy for me to take time at Christmas because they close down the Hydro plant I'm dedicated to for a week of maintenance work.

This year I've got all three of my children and all nine grandchildren coming for a full week at Christmas. So, I'm taking a few days off for Thanksgiving and a then taking a full vacation at Christmas.

What are your plans?

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Since I’m semi retired I take all the major holidays off. Plus my customers are closed as well.

No matter what the plans I hope everyone has a safe holiday season!!

One thing we find works is to discuss holiday plans with extended family.

I am working Thanksgiving week as my company offers a pretty respectable holiday bonus. So I am on the road Thanksgiving week and we celebrate the Sunday I am on weekly home time. As far as Christmas, I am taking the week off.

More thankful than ever for the industry that has saved our American Dream and to TT for the great start!!

Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!

We get 6 paid holidays per year. I'm taking Thanksgiving off, headed over to try and finalize purchasing a house in TX n OK. I asked long in advance if they needed me on the holiday. Haven't decided in Christmas yet, depends on getting the house. Probably do cancun for new years

I'm scheduled for having the Holidays off. However, the company would pay a bonus if it is worked.

I will be on the road during Thanksgiving due to the tour schedule. I was planning on being home for Christmas and not coming back out until after New Years Day but they are trying to add a show that will prevent getting home for Christmas.

All the runs we have after 11 pm are tonight are canceled, so I'm off Thursday and Friday. I am supposed to work my normal Saturday but it's slow and they do not think there will be any freight for us to run. If I don't run Saturday it will give me a nice 5 day weekend.
