The state requirement for your permit and license will also vary with the school you use. At Knight, you get you permit in your home state before going to the school. When you have completed the training, they send you home and hook you up with a trainer at the terminal closest to your home. That trainer will take you to the exam with his truck and you then get your CDL in your home state.

You will actually sign a form stating that you are a nonresident, going to school. Your home address will still be used on the form but the school MAY use their address to get your permit. The person giving the CDL tests came to the school Driver's Solution and when you pass you then go to the DMV and have your eyes examined and photo took to get your permit. Your physical exam has already been done and passed when you get this far.
