Welcome to TT!
Are you saying that you've been stalking my posts?
Alas Daniel I have - (in the friendliest way possible...) Pre-hire letter from Prime as well as a few others and your journey has been a huge help!
Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
Hey, welcome aboard SkyGuy! We're certainly glad to see you came out of hiding to say hello and we're glad the site has been helpful.
Also, congrats on the pre-hires and good luck with school next week! Definitely keep us informed and ask a lot of questions!

Welcome SkyGuy! I started private school this past Monday. It's been a blast - hard work though. Couldn't imagine what it would've been like w/o the help of all the wonderful people here and the High Road Training Program.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
Welcome SkyGuy!
I used to be in the TV business as well (live/satellite truck & master control). Now I'm a boat mechanic in the Adirondacks (Upstate NY). I'm going to be starting CDL training at the end of this boating season. You've certainly come to the most positive trucking website on the internet! My head is still swimming in all the information. But as someone said in another thread, you have to approach it like "How do you eat an elephant? ....one bite at a time!"
Best of luck! And keep us up to date on your progress!

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).
It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.
Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Mmmmmmm elephant... Thanks Tarren! Way too many cramped hours in a Sat truck producing...hopefully giving me the skills to rock a LW truck (yes even a Pinkle one Daniel B..) - you may have saved me in a live shot and not even known it! Best of luck on your journey!

Long time reader, 1st time posting...
Wanted to give a huge thanks to Brett and the TT members for this site as it has been incredibly refreshing to see such positivity on the net where every other site is so quick to go to the dark side. Some background, I have been in the TV industry for 15 years and decided it was time for a change and a new challenge and this site has been instrumental in keeping my outlook positive on the long road ahead in this new path. After researching, soul searching and stalking TT members posts about the industry and what to expect, I made the plunge, became an 'official' TT member and not an anonymous stalker, passed my permit test and start private school CDL training on Monday.
Appreciate the industry insight and look forward to adding my experience in the days and weeks to come!
Keep up the great work on the site Brett and thanks to all members for encouraging me with out knowing it :)
