Does Prime "Persuade Or Incentivize" Recruits To Lease Their Trucks?

My brother went to school and drove for Prime back in the 80's. Speaking with him recently about my decision to start driving, he advised me to stay away from Prime. He said they were all about getting you to lease their trucks after about six months or so, and that if you refused they would limit your runs or pass along the crappy runs to you; and if you left the company you would wind up owing for your schooling. I have read here in the Prime presentation that they do not "persuade or incentivize" you to lease their trucks. Does anyone know if they have changed their practices since then? I have been hesitant to consider them seriously because of this question. THANX!

In all the time I have been on this board, I have not heard anyone say that Prime pushes leases....and there ARE companies out there that REALLY push leasing...Prime is on top for rookie choices to go to. And the drivers on here who are, or have driven for prime have nothing but good things to say about them....I think that if they did, at one time push the lease thing, they no longer do it.

Starcar is correct, Prime does not push leasing their trucks. When I drove for Prime, I leased, but did so for personal reasons. Not because they pushed doing so.

I, Daniel B, and several others here on the board either still drive for them, or did like myself.

Just to set the record straight, I left Prime not because they treated me badly, but because the situation at home changed, so I needed to change because of that.

I currently drive for JB Hunt. If anyone has questions, please ask & I will do my best to answer.

Ernie
