Jim, your age is just fine. In fact, the average age in trucking is in the mid-40's. You can even do this job at the age of 70 as long as you can pass that physical. So your age is no concern!
I started driving with my first company at .28cpm. I made 32K my first year trucking. I'm on my second year and I'm predicting I'll make 44K. I don't know what you call good money, but it fits me just fine!
Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

I was a driver for PST about 20 years ago. I'm 47 now and my kids are grown. I have been in a different business since then and I have done ok. I had to raise my kids alone is the only reason that I quit. Am I too old to go back out? And is the money still there? I know I will be starting back at the bottom but I don't have anything holding me and I always wanted to go back OTR. Any opinions
OTR:
Over The Road
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
