So I stopped for a moment at being a cheapo and bought myself a nice BMX bike to have some fun out on the road.

Figure I can have some more fun out here.

2015 Kink Curb Gloss Green

Let me tell ya! Every bodies gotta get themselves one. Its so much more fun out here with some speedy transport. Today I went 1.5 miles to a Walmart for some shopping. Didn't have the time to walk but had time for a quick ride. Yesterday I stopped at a pullout on 97 in OR and hopped over a fence and went for a ride. Amazing experience. Found abandoned tractors and even found a pack of Moose. At least I think they were Moose, I didn't want to get too close.

So today I found a park in Sunnyside, WA that has a small ramp area.

And me being a stubborn guy I went for it knowing I probably can't do it, but its worth a shot not afraid of a fall.

Even though I feel like a complete idiot, and now so does my wife, its still very fun to have a bike out here. It definitely spices things up. I encourage you guys to bring a bike with you too. Theres far more to see than just what you see out on the road.

Lmao ... 300 dollar kids bike ! Sometimes wives just dont understand we need to buy the things we wanted as a kid that Santa Claus couldnt afford or just didnt think we needed. Its good to keep the little boy alive in us even if we do get a little to old for jumping ramps on kids bikes rofl-3.gif

Yep, I grew up with 6 other children and my mom didn't work, my dad made only 30 grand. Was poor all my life, ate top ramen more than I wanted and could never get anything cool as a kid.

Now since I'm actually making somethjng of myself I figure it'll be nice to buy something cool.

Daniel, those are some classic photos! Is Olga riding with you now, if not who took the photos? I can just see her grinning as she's snapping pics of you getting neutered as you're clumsily crashing over that ramp. I thought your voice sounded quite a bit higher on the phone the other day - those photos explain it all.

I balanced the phone on the picnic table beside the ramp and set it on record. Was planning on killing that jump and them sending it to my wife to brag how good I am.

I sent it anyways and she asked me "what the heii is wrong with you?". She thinks I'm out of my mind now. But she did find it amusing. The video is even funnier than the pictures.

Deep inside I didn't think I could do it. There was way too much space between the ramp and hardly any room to accelerate but I wanted to give it a shot anyways.

I was passing a rig on my way home and saw a bike VERY similar to the one you have strapped on the tractor! I was thinking "now that's SMART!- I'm gonna get ME one!"Of course I don't suppose they're much good in winter weather...But if ya wrap up good enough, why not?dancing-dog.gif

This is a BMX bike not a mountain bike, much much smaller. I have it strapped down to my top bunk. Its way too expensive and nice to keep outside in the elements and don't want to risk it being stolen from the back of my truck.

Here's a trick to strapping it onto the back of the truck.

Turn the handlebar sideways so it'll be even with the frame. Much easier to work with.

Funny that you mentioned getting a bike to get around! My daughter lives in Phoenix and bicycles most every where. She told me about folding bicycles which sounds pretty handing to me so I began looking into them as they will save a lot of space. Who knew? Anyway, glad to hear I am not completely out of my mind for thinking this would be a good way to get around when stopped at a location!

Exactly, and the fact of the matter is that truck stops are generally on the outskirts of town. If you're desperate for food, there's a good chance you're miles from the nearest grocery store. If you're hungry for a nice dinner meal that isn't jacked up prices like truck stops then a bike will also give you that opportunity for easy transportation.

Its always great to walk, but its hard to find the time to walk 1.6 miles one way and 1.6 miles back.

Plus, this toy gives the opportunity to be a stupid kid again. Just like I did today by falling off of it by miserably failing a jump.

BMI:

Body mass index (BMI)

BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:

  • Underestimate body fat for older adults or other people with low muscle mass
  • Overestimate body fat for people who are very muscular and physically fit

It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.

Had a nice 10speed on my truck with me.. Any time I was in swift terminal , Id go for a ride.. Great source of exercise... I can't fit on a BMX anymore, but love my 10speed..

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
