So There Really Are Still Woman Haters Out There....

As some may not know Werner has started pulling doubles for ABF. Yes they are Union and yes it was a union negotiated deal to allow outside carriers to come in since ABF has to much freight and not enough drivers to haul the freight so the union is allowing us to pull their loads. And you can imagine there is just a bit of upset Union drivers at ABF. I have not started pulling double yet but have been in contact with a few drivers that have been. I received a very disturbing call today from a pair of Lady drivers. They have been physically chased out of the building at ABF by a driver. Been cussed out. Called everything but a lady. I am so far beyond angry right now. I was so furious when I was on the phone with them I was shaking and I was not even there. Let me say that the doubles fleet is a team only fleet and all the drivers in it have excellent performance records and safety records. So far there is only two trucks of women in the fleet and both are having issues. Not with ABF management but with the cowards that drive the trucks. The all male teams do get dirty looks but nothing is hardly said to them. One driver had his wife go in to check on a load and to put it nicely she was asked to leave. Of she went out to the truck and towards her husband and he hit the roof and went inside. That almost got ugly and the drivers only excuse was "Oh we did not know she had a male driver with her". WTF??!!! I am beyond upset how drivers of any company union or not could treat females this way or any human for that matter. So from now on if I talk about a group of drivers being cowards you will know whom I am speaking of. So now I will be going to purchase a few items that I need for my job. Pen video camera for my front pocket to record everything that happenes. Maybe a few non lethal items that I can put on my belt for self defense. I do have the right to defend myself or others that are under threat of harm. Nothing says I can not have a belt mounted Maglite flashing carrier. My Maglite is used for my job. Anyway enough of that. Video goes along way to keep people honest and to keep cowards in their place. Who would have thought that we still had a group hidden within trucking hiding behind the title of Truck Driver that treated women this way and fellows driver like they are less than human? I am frankly highly offended. Not only as a driver but as a human being. I am not sure how things will turn out in the future mainly due to the fact that something was supposed to get done today about it, we shall see, but maybe I should be looking for a major news source and see if they would be interested..... Maybe. Would be a shame if the cowards were exposed on TV by an anonymous source that just happened to have video. Maybe I am just venting and I will cool off by the time I go into that fleet.... Maybe.

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

Union drivers being exposed for their prejudices on MSM TV?? Fat freekin' chance . . . look at all the stuff the goons from the SEIU union pulled in the last two elections (you have to look online or Fox news 'cause the MSM is blind to that stuff). Good luck finding anyone.

S**ks, doesn't it? They are misogynists: woman-haters. It's a good word to know.

So if the guy had known ahead-of-time that the lady was accompanied by her teammate/husband, he would have treated her better? Wow. I think one thing that threatens these guys is that the women have to actually do better than the standard, in order to be recognized at all. I don't expect special treatment, but equal and fair? Yes.

One of my school instructors was 82 years old. 6 million miles with no accidents. Of all people, you might have expected him to be old-school and not accept women into the fold, but he was just the opposite. He even "knuckled" my fist with his, when I was grabbing for the stick too often, thinking about down-shifting again (rookie boo-boo) - just like he would have with a male student. "Rrr!" he growled. "Leave that thing alone." I thought, "Cool. He's treating me just like anyone else."

There's no excuse for these duffus-es to be treating anyone with such prejudice. I've never seen it here! You gentlemen have all been great. Set the standard out there, Guys!

And thank you!

There are two things I am super passionate about and super protective of.... 1) My family and those I consider friends. And 2) The trucking industry. Mess if either and it's going to be a very bad day but in this case both at the say time were done. Their behavior just shows disrespect on so many levels. For other people and the trucking industry that they are supposed to be representing.

And then the there is the lady drivers that were involved. That's just plain wrong.

That's absolutely disgusting, but it's hardly an isolated incident. I can't count the number of times I've heard some jackass on the CB tell a lady driver to get back in the kitchen or worse. The 24 year old daughter of some friends of mine had her first trainer put her off his truck because "little girls like you belong at home raising babies, not out here doing man's work." We won't even go into how waitresses in truck stops get manhandled by drivers.

So yes, misogyny is rampant in this industry. The saddest part is, it's learned behavior. Which means these meatheads picked this garbage up from their fathers or some other father figure when they were younger. Makes you feel sorry for their wives or girlfriends.

If someone tries to physically threaten me and chase me out of a building where I've been hired to work, swears at me, and calls me names, I'm calling 911, holding my ground for as long as it's safe, and pressing charges.

This is very disturbing news . I would ship a video to dateline, and see if they pick it up and run with it . Hannity at Fox hates unions in todays world and may decide to play with it.
