So I am looking for assistance. I am recently retired from the military after 7 years. In 2006, I obtained my CDL and for about a half a year I drove for a company that is no longer in business and since then I have been out of the truck but my CDL is valid and as is my medical card. I am having a difficult time finding a company to hire me. No DUI , No tickets, clean criminal background and etc. Any suggestions without having to go through a "refresher" course, because I have found the "refresher" means talking a CDL driving class all over again and I am not willing to use my GI Bill on such.

Thanks,

Ryan P. Bowman

  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Ryan,

If you look into the company sponsored programs you will find most do not require you to use your GI Bill to qualify (at least that has been my experience). I myself am US Navy retired (20 years) and that was what I found when I was checking into this industry in 2011.
