Anything past ten years is gone and not to be worried about on the DAC report. A lot of big companies use it. If you can show 18 months verifiable driving in the past ten years try talking to US Express. I been out quite a while myself but not as long as you. You may have to go back to school or training but if you want it then it's worth it.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. It was 15 years ago so looks like I don't need to worry about it too much. :-)

David beat me to it with his answer above. We must have been typing at the same time but he hit "send" while I was editing and re-writing sentences, lalala. LOL. Anyway ... Schweet.

But you know my trainer was like good luck working in the industry again, but of course he is gonna say that, right? And that was 15 years ago! Funny how things people say can stick with you forever sometimes.

I think this time around I will wait for a female trainer. Nothing against the guys but I think seeing how other ladies take care of themselves out there is worth the wait. For one thing, I had no idea about the porta potty thing the first time around. Oh man!

To your olllllldd trainer: plthplthplthplth!!! That's what control freaks say. In 8 weeks time, why couldn't he help you find a soluuuution to your dilemma instead of being part of the prooooblem? So he planted a nasty little seed in your mind, that might never grow. (I think I'm gonna' puke. I'm having metaphor reflux.) Where are all these metaphors coming from? LOL.

Great idea about the text doc. I'm gonna have it all together and ready to go before I even call a recruiter. I will definitely keep you all posted on my progress! And btw, how the heck do you post smiley faces and such? I need all the tech help I can get lol.

Currently I'm thinking about going with Swift because of the company sponsored training and the fact that the school is the closest I can find and they have a terminal in my hometown here in Portland.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Company Sponsored Training:

A Company-Sponsored Training Program is a school that is owned and operated by a trucking company.

The schooling often requires little or no money up front. Instead of paying up-front tuition you will sign an agreement to work for the company for a specified amount of time after graduation, usually around a year, at a slightly lower rate of pay in order to pay for the training.

If you choose to quit working for the company before your year is up, they will normally require you to pay back a prorated amount of money for the schooling. The amount you pay back will be comparable to what you would have paid if you went to an independently owned school.

Company-sponsored training can be an excellent way to get your career underway if you can't afford the tuition up front for private schooling.
