Passed the DOT physical today!! Wasnt too worried about it except for some prescription meds I take but its all good. I know I'll have to have another physical when I start training ,I just didnt want any surprises. Next step is getting my ss card, birth cert, then passing the permit test. Then training.

DOT:

Yup...its a long process....but if you really fit the trucking life style....its worth every headache, sore muscle, temper tantrum, and humbling moment you will be going thru........TRUCK ON !!!! And don't sweat the small stuff.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Guy, are you out of that straight jacket, yet or are you still driving with your teeth firmly planted in the wheel?

Amazing how you can adapt when you have to. Driving with my feet. Oh yeah. Can ever float gears with my toes. Every once in a while my nose needs inching and I get some weird looks when people pass me. Have not mastered the art of giving the bird with my toes yet. Hmm what else do I have one of that I can show people that passes by and give me dirty looks? rofl-1.gif

Float Gears:

An expression used to describe someone who is shifting gears without using the clutch at all. Drivers are taught to "Double Clutch" or press and release the clutch twice for each gear shift. If you're floating gears it means you're simply shifting without using the clutch at all.
