BMI is a formula that uses weight and height to estimate body fat. For most people, BMI provides a reasonable estimate of body fat. The BMI's biggest weakness is that it doesn't consider individual factors such as bone or muscle mass. BMI may:
It's quite common, especially for men, to fall into the "overweight" category if you happen to be stronger than average. If you're pretty strong but in good shape then pay no attention.
I have driven through that stretch of road once or twice a year for the last 8 years in a four-wheeler. The construction in Indianapolis never ends, and those roads are dangerous enough in a car.
I feel bad for the family of the person who died. And OK, the rear of a truck isn't safe to hit at a high rate of speed. My brother lost a good friend that way years ago. But maybe they should investigate why it is taking so long for them to complete that project instead of trying to figure out how to make it safer to hit a fully stopped 80,000 pound truck at highway speeds. After all, the truck wouldn't have been stopped if there wasn't construction.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
They're blaming it for two reasons: 1/ the bumpers are inadequated; and 2/ if it bleeds, it leads.
Unbelievable, you know what is going to come of this? I'll bet DOT is going to have all trailers start to have rear air bags installed. It is to bad but people have to pay attention to the roads .
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
It's ridiculous, I swear American's are always quick to point the finger instead of take accountability for their own actions. At some point the Government has to just say, the driver was not paying attention and its their own fault.
If I rear end a car, do I get to blame the construction work and say "The car shouldn't have been there?"

I was thinking the exact same thing....

Please don't misunderstand - I completely agree. I was trying to think like a journalist. Doing that made my head hurt lol.

I understand emotion coming into conversations when events like this happen, but, they are blaming the trailer bumper? What the hell? As you will see, the semi was stopped due to construction and the car ran into the back, apparently at a significant speed. It is sad that this lady lost her life and that the trucker will no doubt be affected by this for a long time, but, why is it okay to start blaming the things that are hit instead of the projectile? I just don`t get it. Tragic as it is, she hit the trailer.
