I found this ad in my local area....it seems unreal to me. But its one of the larger companies. I **'d out the company name and contact info, cuz TT isn't in the advertising business. If your interested in contacting them, pm me and I'll give you the name and phone #. I bet if that sign-on bonus is legit, the conditions for it are really weird....I may have to call to satisfy my own curious nature.

You gave the company away when you didn't delete out side tracker camera's LOL

There is only one large company that uses these.

Wow. I've heard of $2000 sign-on bonuses for teams, but never one that high. I'd be curious what the stipulation is myself. They must have at least a one year minimum with the company to get the entire bonus.

Says 48 CPM , split...which kinda works out to 24 cpm each..that's a bit on the low side, isn't it?? or am I reading it wrong?? wonder if this may be another one of those "con" ads, that when you respond they tell you you have to fork over cash up front like that last one you spotted??

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Hmmmm Star...give them a call and get the details! Some may know the company by the side tracker cameras. I don't know and I don't even know what that is, lol I bet most are like me! Especially the rookies!

Just saw the same advertisement in my area on Craigslist. I can only conclude that they are casting as wide a net as possible, a lot of people will bite and then they can sift through and keep who they want. Plus, as long as there is SOME truth to their advertisement... like one person got that $8,000 bonus... then they can advertise it.

Well, I know one company that has a $10, 000 team bonus. Divide that by two, and it is $5, 000 a piece. $8, 000 bonus is $4, 000 per person, I think.

Ask questions about the bonus. Is it $8,000 each or for the team?

I'm pretty sure I know which company you're talking about. My roommate drives for a certain company that's offering $8,000 sign-on bonuses for new teams. His son is going to CDL school now in the hopes of driving teams with his dad (my roomie) and taking advantage of that. The way he explained it to me, though, it's $8,000 per team, so it'd be $4,000 split each way.

Just remember that bonus does not get paid all at once. Its a little over time on each pay period and its PRE tax. Meaning when they start the payments over time to you it i included on your paycheck and even though its a bonus it will have taxes held out of it. So $8000 for teams to work there. That is $4000 a piece then take out the taxes which will be close to 20% for a single income tax payer (depending on the state) of $1600 dollars split. Thats $6400 dollars.

Now since you actually did not work and earn that money by you doing anything other than than showing up do not be surprised if a 1099 is issued around tax time for revenue given to you and because it was separate from your actual agreed on driver wage. Confused yet? It gets better....

A team truck that are only company drivers can earn up to and sometimes more of $60k to 76K a year and that extra $8000 will throw you into a higher tax bracket making you having to claim more itemized deductions to offset the extra tax owed due to the $8000 dollar bonus paid.

On the outside looking in it seems like a great deal but can end up being a head ache in the end. Just be aware as this is only one of the ways it can go and the more likely way it will but there are other ways it can go also.

Last ad I saw for Werner had an UP TO $10,000 sign on bonus for teams.

http://www.werner.com/content/drivers/driver_opportunities/

There is a link to the page I found on that. UP TO being the operative key words there.
