It's really difficult to say what the future implications of these lawsuits will be. There are a slew of problems with the way training is done in the trucking industry and this is just one symptom of a poorly designed system.
Unfortunately the only way you're going to make significant changes in the way training is done is to legislate new requirements.
I just wonder if they are going to limit drive time more then they have... The one thing the government is very very very good at is proving that have no clue what is going on in the real world.
Granted i do feel bad for female drivers that have to wait for a female trainer, but at the same time my original career was that of a chef, that is also a mostly male industry, you cannot simply cry foul just because there are no other females around.

Damned if you do - damned if you don't I suppose.
After being sued for harassment (female trainee versus male trainer), Prime pairs female trainees with female trainers - but - the LACK of female trainers (compared with the number of female applicants), causes major delays.
What's a company to do?
What comes NEXT? Being sued because you don't have an adequate number of gay/lesbian/bi/transgender trainers? Or muslim trainers?
Not saying that it isn't a shame that women have to wait excessive amounts of time to get a female trainer - or that there isn't always going to be the risk of a harassment suit from a mixed-gender training situation (whether real or imagined).
But really - I don't know that this suit (and the $$ Prime is going to have to ante up to settle), is going to HELP OR HARM the cause of women drivers.
Thoughts?

I think most individuals with a clear head on their shoulders would agree with you, I know I do. I think it's crazy because you'll get a Female Driver complain about wanting adequate training from another Female but then you have another Female Driver complaining its unfair and Sexist. What do you do?

you end up getting sued at both ends, thats what :(
My 2 cents as a woman. I should be able to choose my trainer male or female and reasonably expect a professional outcome. Yes i am an idealist lol.
When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

Idealist: a person who cherishes or pursues high or noble principles, purposes, goals etc. a person who represents things as they might or should be rather than as they are.

i agree you should be allowed to pick 100%, but at the same time you cannot be shocked when it takes longer to find a female trainer. Fundamentally its no different then a non smoker wanting a non smoking trainer. I know i will wait for a non smoking trainer as i will no be able to learn or sleep around a chimney, but i would never sue because i have to wait a few days for one.

Absolutely, If I had a special request, I would expect to wait. Personally, it's a temporary situation anyway. I just want the best training I can get (fingers crossed). We shall see how she goes. I believe some companies don't let you choose, if you're female you wait for a female. I may be saying this prematurely, but I hope to be a trainer for a bit. Although I suspect I won't be wanting to share my space.

They probably don't have enough women trainers because they don't employ enough women. I can only imagine that most of the women applicants do not meet with their requirements....just maybe. But then if you ask for a woman trainer and you are told you would have to wait for one to become available, why sue? Unless there was more involved???
