Well I managed to get my self in with Gordon Trucking. (Anyone got info on them)

They are paying for me to fly out from KC, MO to Indianapolis, IN on Sunday. Start orientation Monday. I'm praying for no set backs like I had at prime, but so far, everything seams to be going great.

Two days of orientation and a test out and I'm in my own truck.

Also get a sign on bonus which is nice. Guess my 11 months with swift counts for something. ;)

Here's to a new chapter.

Would love to know how things are going. Looking at Gordon after getting my CDL. Expected mileage? CPM for rookies? Thanks!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

We see tons of Gordon trucks on the left coast...I've not talked with many drivers, but the few i have spoken with were happy in their position with this company..... So you "new guys" speak up....how is Gordon for keeping you rolling, mileage pay, benefits ??

Gordon is based on experience. They are only counting the swift experience as Salvation Army hasn't sent anything in.. So I'm sitting @.32cpm. Its not horrible and I can get increases too.

I just completed my first load out of St. Louis to KC, MO to get home for supplies. The drivers I've spoken to all say they avg 3000mi a week with a drop to 2300.. Its not bad, but I take everything with a grain of salt.. I'll give more on the company but so far I enjoy it.
