Hey all, I have been reading the site for a couple of weeks now and have started the High Road training program. i though i would share a thank you to all those you have helped to make this site. I have looked at other sites and they seem to be consistently putting down their profession and people that are thinking of joining into it. You all have been up front about issues out there but not in a discouraging way. So thank you for that.

anyway, my name is Luke and I believe that I have decided on a school but still unsure on a company yet.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

Welcome!!! I can tell you 1st hand. The High Road Training is the best!! I've used it exclusively 2 years ago (never cracked a state DMV book) and passed each test with flying colors at the DMV!! As a matter of fact, the only endorsement I didn't have 2 years ago was HazMat. This past week I went back and studied the Hazmat here and took the yest yesterday at my local DMV office and scored a 93.

HAZMAT:

Hazardous Materials

Explosive, flammable, poisonous or otherwise potentially dangerous cargo. Large amounts of especially hazardous cargo are required to be placarded under HAZMAT regulations

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

DMV:

Department of Motor Vehicles, Bureau of Motor Vehicles

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
