Revisiting the forum after almost 2 years, Started out with Prime back in Oct. 2012. Stayed with them "BUT" didn't complete a full year (had 8 months) due to what appeared to be a great job (not trucking) that ended after 9 months when the company laid off several of us due to financial troubles.
So here I am again considering trucking for the 2nd round. I did Reefer with Prime, had 100% safety record, 100% on time delivery and consistently got my fuel bonus and was always in the top 5 in MPG.
I'm wanting to get back into it but don't want van. Looking into Tanker or Intermodal that will get me home often. Preferably a M-F gig.
So please help me decide....Tanker or Intermodal?
Thanks, Sly
Intermodal:
Transporting freight using two or more transportation modes. An example would be freight that is moved by truck from the shipper's dock to the rail yard, then placed on a train to the next rail yard, and finally returned to a truck for delivery to the receiving customer.
In trucking when you hear someone refer to an intermodal job they're normally talking about hauling shipping containers to and from the shipyards and railyards.
