Also, Knight is also high on my list and I noticed they don't want any Major violations in the last 6 months, would this be considered a major violation?
Yes, careless driving is a very serious violation.
Even though you pulled your driving record from the DMV and nothing came from CO, you absolutely must be honest and tell the company everything! This can make or break you. If you don't tell them and they find out, which they 110% will, they will treat that as you being dishonest and immediately you're unacceptable to them.
Put it all on your application and explain yourself to the recruiter. Be honest, polite, and answer any questions they ask of you.
Apply For Truck Driving Jobs and see who is interested in you. Its better to apply to a dozen companies because not all of them will be interested in you. When you have your list of all the companies that are interested in you then pick which one suits you better. Be sure to learn How To Choose A Company! Good luck

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
If it is a pointed moving violation and you dont yet have a cdl then goto traffic school to immediately remove it. You will not have that chance once you have a cdl.

So I received today a ticket for Obedience to Turn Prohibition Signs for making a U Turn at an intersection where you cannot U turn, will this affect me getting a job in trucking when done with school? I've been looking the qualifications at most trucking sites and the ones I can find say no more than two in a two year period or similar... am I fine with only one traffic violation really ever on my record (except the next paragraph)?
My second question is I received a ticket over 3 years ago for careless driving in Minnesota, since then I obtained a license in Wisconsin and now in Colorado, when I pulled my driving record from the DMV here in Colorado it showed I had nothing on my record, first I've always thought violations moved state to state when getting a new license and second should I mention this when I apply for trucking jobs? I know most trucking companies don't care about violations over 3 years old, I was looking at Werner Trucking application and they don't give any time table for reckless driving on there application. Does anyone know Werners driving qualifications if I should mention it when I apply for driving jobs?
I had a careless driving, alcohol related in 1991, it was reduced to a "implied consent" here in Minnesota, I got a Wisconsin license in 1991, drove outside of Minnesota for 7 years on it, moved back to Minnesota in 1998 and got my license reinstated. When I decided to give truck driving a try in August of this year, I checked my driving record and this ticket from 1991 is and always will be on my record.
I told Werner about it prior to getting a pre-hire letter, didn't want it to cause a problem and they were fine with it.....so be up front and let them know.....cause it is on your record

Pre-hire letters are acceptance letters from trucking companies to students, or even potential students, to verify placement. The trucking companies are saying in writing that the student, or potential student, appears to meet the company's minimum hiring requirements and is welcome to attend their orientation at the company’s expense once he or she graduates from truck driving school and has their CDL in hand.
We have an excellent article that will help you Understand The Pre-Hire Process.
The people that receive a pre-hire letter are people who meet the company's minimum hiring requirements, but it is not an employment contract. It is an invitation to orientation, and the orientation itself is a prerequisite to employment.
During the orientation you will get a physical, drug screen, and background check done. These and other qualifications must be met before someone in orientation is officially hired.
I had planned on being up front about the careless driving ticket and I don't feel it being a major obstacle being it was over 3 years ago and the companies I'm looking at don't seem to look beyond the 3 year threshold for it. I'm more worried about the ticket I got today for it though, Knight Transportation has in there qualifications "No serious traffic violations in the last 6 months. Serious traffic violations include: Reckless Driving, Speeding >15 over, following too closely, failing to obey traffic control device, erratic driving or improper lane change" the failing to obey traffic control device kind of confuses me if missing a U Turn sign qualifies for this, it really wasn't serious, I didn't run a stop light, wasn't speeding there was no one on the road. I guess I should rephrase is having a ticket like this right before getting a job going to be a problem? Except for the two things I mentioned I have a clean driving record, clean background, and a stable work history.
