In automatic mode it will do it for you or its supposed to. I rather do it myself cause I know I can trust myself to shift properly.
Going down steep grades, I put mine in manual, then select the gear I want. I don't want the auto surprising me by shifting at the wrong time. I then have a selected, 1 through 3, that I use to very the amount of resistance to control the speed when the pitch of the hill varies to maintain speed.
Just curious as swift just bought a bunch of autos to test out durability and fuel saving I suppose.

I believe your talking about the Engine Brake,, in my Auto shift 2014 Cascadia, I pretty much leave it on all the time, then when I back all the way off of the accelerator, the computer automaticly engages the engine brake,, also down shift before/as you top a hill or else you may end up with the RPMs to high then the computer won't let you downshift and just Beep at you because the engine would end up overspeeding
The ones swift picked up are "ultra shifts" the are in the new internationalsite they bought. When I test out I will be given a truck from what ever terminal I test out of if they have any trucks. Just curious as many guys seem to refuse driving autos.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

When you go down steep grates in an auto does it shift down for you or do you have to manually pick the gear?
