I also found this website the first week of training at truck school in Columbus, Ohio. My nerves are still on edge as the training is taking me longer than I initially anticipated. I've had to reschedule testing twice and the whole thing is draining my funds. I pray the Lord allows me to get it right this upcoming week, because I really need to earn a living and provide for my family. The website has been very educational and it's nice getting to "talk to" others on the boards or just read their discussions back and forth. I like the CDL Diaries. Thanks for a place to gather while we take this step into a new career.

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

I began this journey right here on TruckingTruth.com. Preparing for CDL , gaining knowledge, testing here, full of nervous energy at such a big change in my life.. then I entered a trucking school. I was able to take what I learned here and apply it there. Passed my CDL test just as the first snow was coming down. Today I got hired. I am so grateful for these new skills, for the support from my family, from my friends who drive, and from my school. Grateful that I found this site and could muster the courage to believe that I could do this, because now I can. The tone of this site is People-Friendly; I so appreciate that. Yay!!
