Did ya know its not always good to listen to truck detour signs? SO ABOUT 2 MONTHS BACK, I got a route to NJ right of 80. From Allentown its a simple 22 to 33 to 80 right into where I needed to go. So as Im driving on 33 there is a truck setour to 611. So Im thinking somethings up ahead not wanting to get stuck I follow it.Welp it lands me smack inyo a 13'3 bridge. So knowing PA I throw my flashers on and ease up to it. (Sometimes the signs lie) Welp It looked like I wouldnt make it and there was no where to go so I called the state police. Boy those little buggerd are so helpfulsmile.gif . So the trooper was like "Didnt you see the 5 sighs thst said bridge ahead?". Of course I dud but I assumed that since you put the detour up the bridge was after the highyway onramp. (Its .8 miles before 80) So hes like "why didnt ys turn around?" Where????@!!! Im Iin some little rinky dink PA town on a 2 lane rd (yall know those are small) and theres nothing but woods snd residential neighborhoods. Ya cant just turn sround 70ft at the drop of a dime! So after going thru all that cause luke I told him its neither here nor there Its fone Im stuck and I need help from them to shut off traffic so I can back out without cresting a further ditustion and Id really really just appreciate it he could come (insert sweet syrupy voice dripping with sarcasm) So he agrreed. Then Icalled my ccompany to tell em. Safety was so glad I stopped, evidently the day before some lovely rookie topped a 12'6 bridge. She loved that I didnt lol Even published this story in our company news letter cause I got out and looked. In the mean time a driver in a car passed by asked if I was 13'6 and told me I could fit. He fid it all the time. (The road dipped under the bridge) I was skeptical after all believe non of what ya hear and half of what ya see right? He said if It makes ya feel better drop your air. So I did and inched up under the bridge (GOAL 10 times) And I made itdancing-banana.gifdancing-dog.gifdancing.gif See crazy crap happens to us all but if you remain calm, know when to ask for help and keep a positive attitude things work out. And I still made it to my pickup ontime! Lol

You said it - the Golden Rule of trucking is quite simple - don't hit anything. Anything that happens out there is only temporary and once it's over it will make for a great story - as long as you don't hit anything.

Every driver gets into some unbelievable situations from time to time. It's hard to remain calm and think things through sometimes but it's something you have to find a way to do.

What a relief it was when you cleared that bridge, eh??? smile.gif

Each day is temporary, yet each day has its ISSUES - I seem to feel ok in the mornings after a good nights rest but near the end of the day when things haven't gone so smoothly - that's when I get discouraged.

HOWEVER - it was said here (i think) if you make it through the day and you've done you're best and haven't hit anything IT IS A GOOD DAY! This is something I keep reminding myself. Then I brush my teeth turn out the light and get some needed rest.
