When a former student/driver drops it to visit their former instructor during your class and says "Tell you what guys, use celdon to get your experience and then GET OUT" ........Cmon man.....

But on the other hand he did have two former students tell us how much they appreciated him (although they left the company) and a 3rd come in to brag about signing her lease on a brand new Pro Star.

Yep, they're advertising their lease program. What better way to get people to lease a truck than to advertise it with a group of students who don't know any better.

Listen man, I've been through times where the company pushed the lease down my throat before with my first company, whatever you don't buy into the stuff they'll tell you or have already told you. It's all misinformation to get you to lease a truck. They probably promised you the world and gave you the impression that you'll set the world on fire with your paychecks. Absolutely move on and don't bite the bait - that's exactly what it is. I do believe they brought that 3rd person in to come to solely try to convince/recruit you guys to lease a truck.

Could be but I have absolutely NO desire to take on that much risk. I don't want to worry about fuel costs, maintenance, or insuring a rig. Maybe in the future, bit I'd have to have some REALLY keen insights into the industry first.

At one trucking terminal I visited, the office posts "Anniversaries" each month - a list of company drivers and another list of owner/ops.

By year, there are about 12-15 first year o/o's then three 2nd then only 2-3 each year after. (Remember this is a monthly thing, so these numbers are about 1/12 the total for the terminal.)

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Hey Daniel I to worked for central and they never tried to get me to be a o/o maybe cuz when I started swift had just bought them but I remember the o/os at the main building crying about not getting miles and ***** and moan about having to turn down loads cuz they weren't the best or wasn't worth their time or whatever reason they had.... If anyone goes to central refrigerated in west valley Utah listen to all the o/os and you will see that it sucks to own your own rig...
