As a soon to be Roehl CDL trainee thanks for the bump, well worth a read for us newbies trying to get a feel for the business, in this case a sense of the myriad potential logistics problems a driver has to endure.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Five Months later, I have had few repeats of these problems. It all comes down to actually doing the job, and having a better understanding of what's going on.

Grasshopper, you must push through your self-imposed barriers. These situations are nothing but learning experiences. Only a moment of your life, but through this door beckons a great career.

You learned patience when you practiced backing maneuvers. (Didn't you? rofl-2.gif ) Now you learn more patience!

Here endeth the lesson, Grasshopper.

You go, mountain girl!

Yeah a good, re-read the trials and tribulations, good reading. Exactly why I would carry more "tools", than a few basics lol When I can fix something, rather than wait on roadside assistance.... 4 hour wait time, then to do the repair? I could be hella ways down the road lol Glad ya got thru all that initial, "Anything, and everything, that can go wrong, will" period... Errol,

Seriously? lol, a Tri-state area,,,,,,, Across the Colorado River, from Laughlin, Nevada, about 6 miles from my house here. And Needles, Calif. to the south of me about 20 miles....Only stuck here since I broke my right leg, and dealing with healing. I swore to never, live here again! hahaha

But when my mom got sick with cancer, I loaded up to get here, which I was 5 days too late. Too friggin hot here! lol 115* now, has seen it hit 133* some Augusts!

Where the heck is Bullhead City?

Steve, long ago there were bumper stickers with this line on them. Then Don Laughlin built the Riverside Hotel/Casino. Then there went the neighborhood!

PS, the words "Bullhead City" in the first post are a link to a Google map of the town. I really enjoyed Bullhead more than the casinos across the river, when I lived in LA.

Yes, summers make you want to go somewhere else.
