I didn't go with Roehl, but I would assume the first day is like anywhere else... PAPERWORK! Make sure you bring every form of ID you have.

I'm doing good. 2 more days at Schneider Bulk then I go out with a trainer OTR for about 10 days.

I would think Roehl does a pre-work screen on the first day as well. It's another way for companies to filter out people they cannot hire; just like the felony and DUI stuff. Don't be nervous you will do fine.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

DUI:

Driving Under the Influence

Hey, best of luck to ya!

There isn't too much advice to give other than to be very patient with the process of getting things rolling. These big companies have a lot going on behind the scenes and it doesn't always go fast and efficiently. So keep a smile goin and do all you can to get along with people.

There's definitely going to be a group of knuckleheads that you'll want to avoid. There's always a group of know-it-alls in every class or orientation group with cynical attitudes toward the company and the people working there. It's the ole' "us against them" kinda thing where they've read a lot of negative garbage on TheTruckersReport and they're going to show up there convinced they're about to be abused and taken advantage of. Just avoid these people altogether. Find the ones that are excited about their new careers and determined to enjoy it and become the best drivers they possibly can. Don't let the cynics rub off on ya. Your experience with Roehl will depend on you - your attitude, your work ethic, and your ability to listen and learn.

So go with the flow, work hard, stick with people that have a great attitude, and enjoy yourself. smile.gif

Hi there everybody, I'm not a big professional myself, I am just starting my second drive at a truck transport company, and I must say at the beginning of a carrier everything is shocking (and fascinating!). And I fully agree with Brett Aquila's comment, I wouldn't say better! Be positive and love what you are doing. And good luck!
