Derrick, welcome to the forum!
That scenario is unusual, partly because you are going to have to give up your truck every time you decide to take that two months off so they can put somebody else in it. That truck is a major capital investment for the company and they need it moving as much as possible because that is when they are managing to get a little bit of a return on their investment. The freight never stops needing to be moved.
Yes, there is a big demand for drivers, but if you were to take off two months and then want to start back, I kind of think you would be needing to start back with a new company each time. Personally I don't know of any companies out there that are interested in a scenario like that.
It is indeed pretty uncommon. I've heard of farmers that will run from fall to spring and then take the summer off tending to crops. But not often.
Once you gain some experience you might be able to find a company that will allow it. It's going to be nearly impossible in the beginning though.
This is a question I asked last year. I asked a rep from Werner at an open day in school and he said that and Werner doesn't have a problem with that scenario. Can anyone from Werner confirm?

Newbie here How common is working for about 10 months, then taking 2 months to reset, and going back on the road? seems like the market is way in demand for drivers so as long as you do a good job is this a viable option?
