Hey guys, I just got hired with Pam Transport and am going to training next month. I was wondering what flashlight you guys would recommend in general. I do have one of those mini runs on 3 AAA led flashlights but was wondering if I need to get a different one. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
As a former auto mechanic, I have a Streamlight Stinger DS LED flashlight, and I bought those 3 pcs 3AAA Cree LED flashlights in Costco, and I bought another single AAA Cree LED Flashlight in Walmart lately. All of them work well to me. Unless your flashlight is that multi-LED instead of a Cree, you are good to go.
I purchased an led flashlight that fixes out 300 lumens and also has red led for evenings so I don't bother my co driver if I need something in the sleeper. It is great!
I have a "Streamlight 88047 ProTac HL 3 Flashlight with White LED and 3-CR123A Lithium Batteries" which was $80 on Amazon. It's a tactical light that's only 6 inches long, runs on CR123A batteries, and puts out 1100 lumens. It's a very serious flashlight. Borderline indestructible and lights up a field like the sun is shining. It's probably overkill for most people, but out on the road you're often using flashlights in terrible conditions - looking underneath trailers in the snow and things like that. You're going to get them dirty, you're going to drop them, and of course a cheap one will break at the worst possible time.
But I'm extremely happy with that flashlight.
