Congrats... Remember you are going to be nervous as all get out so take things at your own speed. When I first started I used to dread crossing this one bridge in particular because of the right hand corner and the narrowness of the bridge itself. Now I will go across that thing at the speed limit of 60 with a 12' wide load and not even blink. I hauled a wide load last week where nearly everyone in the oncoming lane was kicking up dust on the shoulder when they went by me. I was even in my lane entirely and had me laughing all the way up that 60 mile stretch of road.

For those that have driven the road it is the one that goes through Seeley and Swan Lakes in Montana.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

It's official. I passed my final test Saturday and this after I now have a brand new shiny cdl in my possession.

Congratulations man. Awesome job

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
