Tracey, I have a temporary alternative to charging your laptop in the truck instead of the truck stops.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002APAR4M

Buy that at a truck stop. They go from 30$ to as low as 20$. It will charge your laptop while you drive. Just plug it in and drive, you'll end your day with the laptop at 100% battery. The wattage is just enough to charge your laptop but its not enough to do anything else. In other words, don't multitask it.

I've been using it the entire time I've been trucking. Works like a charm.

Hey, now how cool is this! We are taking over TT. Two Tracey's. rofl-3.gif

We got you guys now. And YES you are a Trucker. Enjoyed your post and all the replies. This place is great. Loads of information. Best part though is the FAMILY feeling. We are here for you Tracy.

I will turn 51 in November and getting back into the seat again after several years. It's a blast to feel like a kid again! Well kinda. Knees hurt sometimes, but that's what they made WD40 for. Keep a can handy all the time. And to be honest, I never did grow up! Just out a little bit.

You're doing some traveling for sure. And you have a great attitude and out look on the whole of the experience. You are going to have a great time. That's what it's about too.

Look forward to reading your future post. This website gets better and better everyday.

Traveling Mercies to you.

Checking in again...I'm in Oregon tonight having spent the past couple days in California. Hauling a load of La-Z-Boy recliners from L.A. to Portland. Glad it was a light load, going over the passes between CA and OR is a real pain in the 'you-know-what'!

I've been moving pretty fast, and am still out on my first run, approaching three months on the road. It's by choice more than forced, I've still got bills to pay from being out of work, and I have been through home a few times, even once breaking down there for a couple days...actually, I broke down a couple hundred miles away with a bad instrument panel, but managed to limp home and get it repaired there, even getting break down pay while staying at home. :)

Sometimes I get lonely ... especially in the mornings when getting up, but I get up and get on with it, and am better once I start rolling.

I'm a bit apprehensive with winter just around the corner, I haven't had to chain up for real yet, and am not really looking forward to it. I know it's coming though, as I finally had to learn to use my bunk heater a couple days ago.

I've learned I really don't like to drive in Hartford Connecticut and Los Angeles, California. I can deal with most everything else, although Dallas isn't very high on my list either. I am definitely happiest rolling along free and clear on an Interstate in the west.

I did run back and forth in central California a few times over the past few days. Lots of fruit trees, nut trees and grape vines in the central valley. A run up CA 99 from Bakersfield to Red Bluff is an interesting drive.

Have a great day everyone, and be safe out there!

Interstate:

Commercial trade, business, movement of goods or money, or transportation from one state to another, regulated by the Federal Department Of Transportation (DOT).

I am saving up for the 1500 watt unit, Daniel. My truck is already wired for it, and Flying J/Pilot has it on sale this month for $99. I'll have one before the month is out, I hope. Then my next purchase will be a little refrigerator, so I can do away with the ice chest. Then maybe...dare I say it....a TV. But that will probably wait for a new truck. I'm supposed to change trucks in Jan if my shop guy is right. I sure hope so.

Sorry I missed you Daniel!

Couple good things happened this week. I received a call from Safety stating they had the new driver review meeting and I passed with "Flying Colors" ... No accidents, no tickets, outstanding miles, every delivery on time, idle time was great, fuel mileage great, great feedback from dispatch and shop. I was turning red from embarrassment, but it sure felt good! I'm no longer on 'new driver' status. Hurrah!

Also, I get into a newer truck next Friday. My old truck has to be parked at our Missoula terminal to be sold by next Friday, 25 October. I'm hoping I get something decent, and just in time for winter!

Looks like I'm making some headway!

Thanks all!

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I did pick up my 1500 watt inverter a couple days ago and hooked it up...the truck already had the cables for it, so it was easy. It easily powers my laptop.

I'll transfer it to my new truck next week, and my next purchase will be a small refrigerator, followed by a small microwave.

Some time later, I'll be looking for a TV and possibly DirectTV...but that is a ways down the road.

Tracy...you can really get around Directv, without it costing you more than $5 a month...We did it...since we have Directv at home...hollar if you want the particulars...

Tracy thanks for the updates. I am considering WS and your updates are invaluable. Can you tell us how many miles you are getting weekly/monthly?

Thanks
