Ok so yeah. When I'm driving is all good. Yeah the first night or two I thought "Why the heck am I out here? I miss my family, blah blah." Don't get me wrong I still miss them, but I know we're going to be better off in the long run financially speaking BUT that's not my problem. I was loaned a portable dvd player. It stopped working. The level of boredom I'm facing in my downtime is seemingly ENDLESS! And if I go into a truck stop all they're ever watching is "snapped" or "law and order" type shows. What is it with truckers and those shows? Let's watch some sports. Baseball, basketball, hockey, heck even soccer (or fĂștbol, whatever) it's KILLING ME! Hahahahaha, I need a t.v....

How much internet do you have on your phone? You can always use that time to write giant posts on TT. That's what I did. smile.gif

But I think you should find a hobby. For instance, Jopa reads books on his spare time. I am an avid rock collector when I'm not in the mood for video games.

Reading takes up a lot of time. I happen to love to read and like Old School it is those piles of paper with words on them held together with glue.... embarrassed.gif

Used book stores are awesome for cheap reading material.

I text my orientation buddies to see where they afe and what not, get on here, watch netflix when i can get it. When im at a truck stop i go in and see what they got. I rarely bring my wallet so i wont spend any money. If im at TA /petro that shows movies i may watch one. Or if they have an exercize room i go in there for a bit.

I'm reading "Takedown" by Brad Thor. It's just literally all I have to occupy my spare time with. I love reading but I cab inky read fire so long at a time. Once I get some money coming in I'm gonna get a tv and bring my PS4 along. That'll help tremendously. I might have to read books 1-5 of a Song of Ice and Fire again.

I have a subscription to both Nook & Google play books on my phone (can also access them from a tablet) and have downloaded over time about 100 books or more. I find that takes up much less room than regular books & works just a well. Most of the time the books average about $5 - $10 range (I guess I'm just cheap that way).

I get on the internet as well and watch Netflix/You tube as well. This all seems to work well for me.

When it comes to internet access, I find it has been better for me to get a Hotspot through my phone provider (in this case Verizon), it seems to work much better (and is cheaper than trying to access the WiFi at the truckstop & better reception).

Hope this helps you some.

Ernie

Genetic genealogy it works for me. it leads you to do manythings youd never thought of doing. learning about history, observe eole at the truck sto thinking... maybe, we are related... then you go through maryland saying my ggg grandma was born here... then you forget you were supposed to exit because you daydream about the names of,the streets...at keast thats what i do... ;(

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
