Well we finished logbooks today. I still dont get the whole split sleeper thing but i passed the class i got 90 percent on the test. We spent all afternoon working on backing and i think im getting better im just not consistent at all. Ill nail 3 perfect parallels and then screw up the next 15 attempts. At least i have a week left to practice.

Logbook:

A written or electronic record of a driver's duty status which must be maintained at all times. The driver records the amount of time spent driving, on-duty not driving, in the sleeper berth, or off duty. The enforcement of the Hours Of Service Rules (HOS) are based upon the entries put in a driver's logbook.

Well this is the last week of school i need to be ready to test by sat i hope i can do it. I think im getting the hang of parallel the only problem i have is consistency, ill do good on 4 or 5 of them then screw up the next 12 ill take a smoke break and ill go back n get 2 or 3 then screw them up again. Road wise i think im doing ok just need practice i still have a tendency to panic when im in an unfamiliar situation. Well thats it for today ill update you again tomorrow.

Well i didnt post yesterday because it was the same problems. Today i think i finally made a breakthrough with parallel i made a lot more than i screwed up. City driving is tough i have problems figureing out where to turn pulling a trailer but i didnt hit anything so it was a good day.

Well i took my test and failed unfortunatly. I missed a shift and couldnt get it back in gear quick enough so yeah on a good note i passed pretrip and backing so when i come back to test again all i take is the road part. It just sucks i was looking forward to starting my new career and its gonna be put on hold for now i guess.

Well hopefully this will be my last week in school. I only have to a half day since i only need to practice driving. I think ill do ok with some more drive time mainly so i dont have to think about it so much and i can concentrate more on controling my nerves.

Well did my driving today i didnt do too bad ive noticed a problem maybe you guys can help with. I keep forgetting my splitter. Twice today i tried to start out in 9th instead of 4th and i stalled it when i went from 6th to 10th instead of 6rh to 5th. Any ideas on how to remember would be great. I really need to concentrate on fixing my shift making it more automatic because thats how i failed my test.

TWIC:

Transportation Worker Identification Credential

Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.

Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

Great job man! Keep it up! Just started reading today. I will make sure to keep an eye out for more. Its always scary and tough before it becomes second nature. These trucks scared me to death when I started, gets you nervous like your about to get shot at. Lol. I have never faced a harder task in my life. When it was all said and done, I have never been more proud of myself and my class mates. Happy to see you didn't give up on yourself and the best of luck to your new life/career. Kinda feels good to have that license in hand now don't it? Lol.
