If I roadkill those two fugitives, Erik I get a reward? rofl-2.gif

Not that I'd aim for anyone..

Jay, is this your first foray into New York?

What part are yo going to? I'm there almost every week - I just came back from Avon, NY.

Normally I would be turning around and heading right back up that way, but it looks like I got put on a southerly run this week - I'm headed for Florida.

Going to Johnstown New York. I was there once before when I was with Schneider. I was completely shocked. All you every hear about New York city, heck I didn't see one skyscraper. Lol pretty state.

Yeah, I love it in Upstate New York - it's really pretty, and the people are very friendly and helpful. I traveled on The Chautauqua Wine Trail recently, it runs through thousands of acres of vineyards in Upstate NY - really a nice area with lots of old towns and beautiful old homes along the way.

I keep looking for your Volvo, Old School. Hopefully one of these days we'll cross paths. If you see a guy pulling doubles in an OD truck, waving frantically, you'll know it's me. smile.gif

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

I love that area. We have stores in Johnstown and Amsterdam NY. We have stores all over NY and I really like most of the areas of the state. Of course I'm glad I don't have to go back anymore. smile.gif

I've only been to New York once, but it's a beautiful place if you avoid the city! I'll definitely be going back sooner rather than later!

(I was actually up there when the two prisoners escaped and within 20 miles of where they were. What a time to go vacation, right?)

You wanna travel through a nice area take a detour through lake placid and the Adirondack mountains. Very nice scenery.

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

I actually live in the Adirondacks! I love it (when I'm actually home, lol). Tourist season can be a bit stressful when I roll into the village of Old Forge with a 53' split axel flatbed and there's tourists popping out from between parked cars, that are too far away from the curb, and they are jaywalking!

I also had someone who was renting from one of my neighbors, call my company and complain to my DM that my truck being parked in my driveway was blocking his view of the lake! He said he's paying $1000 a week, and I was ruining his 4th of July vacation! My DM told him as nicely as possible, to stuff it! As long as there was no town ordinance that prohibited me from parking my truck in MY OWN DRIVEWAY, I was good to go! And I wouldn't hear another word about it from my DM! (There is no ordinance that says I can't park there, BTW)

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Oh, your mean, brutal truck driver. How dare you ruin some asswipe tourist's vacation. Heck I paid less than that for a house on the beach in Panama City Beach.
