We are both team drivers! Except you're running 7k miles per week while we are doing 5-6k per week. The only good thing about my situation is my guy is a student so I make all the money.
It's nice to finally have something in common with you...
As a psd trainee, I hope my trainer doesn't express this attitude when I am teaming with him in the tnt phase. I will feel so used. Luckily my trainer buys my meals so I feel a little appreciated.
Prime Inc has a CDL training program and the first phase is referred to as PSD. You'll get your permit and then 10,000 miles of on the road instruction.
Prime’s PSD begins with you obtaining your CDL permit. Then you’ll go on the road with a certified CDL instructor for no less than 75 hours of one-on-one behind the wheel training. After training, you’ll return to Prime’s corporate headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, for final CDL state testing and your CDL license.
Prime Inc has their own CDL training program and it's divided into two phases - PSD and TNT.
The PSD (Prime Student Driver) phase is where you'll get your permit and then go on the road for 10,000 miles with a trainer. When you come back you'll get your CDL license and enter the TNT phase.
The TNT phase is the second phase of training where you'll go on the road with an experienced driver for 30,000 miles of team driving. You'll receive 14¢ per mile ($700 per week guaranteed) during this phase. Once you're finished with TNT training you will be assigned a truck to run solo.

Hehe, I'm just poking at him about that. But on a serious note, you're actually being paid very well. I made 350$ during my training while team driving. Heck, 700 is sometimes more than you'll be making as a solo. Even though you're not making nearly as much as the trainer, you're blessed man.

I'm quite sure that Daniel is making a friendly jab at guyjax. Unless all the experienced drivers are in on some sort of trick, then Daniel is a pretty good sort. He's given us some excellent threads and he has some good training stories floating around.
In team they generally split pay down the middle for each driver (example: a team might get $0.30/mile which is $0.15 split.) In TNT, they might drive like a team but it's not team pay. The trainer makes more. However, the trainer should make more especially if they are good. They are letting a student who can barely back a truck into their walk in closet sized living space and sharing that with them for months while putting their lives in the student's hands when they start shift driving. We'll call it trainer hazard pay.
You'd be lucky to get a good trainer like Daniel who really wants you to succeed versus a lot of the worse options of TNT trainers who just want to use you for the money.

I understood the humor in it. That's why I mentioned the free meals I've received. Didn't take it personal. I am appreciative of the trainers and what they do. To trust someone who has never driven a truck takes great patience. As my trainer says "you are handling an 80,000 lb missile" and for him to not grab that wheel every time that lane detector goes off takes nerves of steel. They deserve every penny they get.

Dang the secret is out. Where did I put the extra scary guy with the accents phone number?
Teaming does make more money in the long run. It can be tough. I guess I am use to it.
I only wish we were turning 7k a week. Most times it averages around 6500 to 6800 a week and that is IF everything goes right.
