I don't think it will be a big problem with most companies but I'm really not sure. I don't know if most of them ask if you've failed a test ever in your lifetime or if they ask going back a certain number of years. I know I have seen requirements listed that mentioned not failing a drug test over a certain number of years though, so I don't think it's going to be a big problem since it was so long ago.

The biggest problem you're going to face is that it was a drug test for a trucking job. If it was outside of the industry they might look on it a little less seriously, but the fact you were driving a truck at the time you failed is going to be the biggest concern with most companies.

You ultimately won't know until you start applying to a bunch of companies to see what they say.

Hello. I'm new to the industry. Just graduated trucking school about a week ago. I was going with a company but then they saw that I failed a pre drug screen in 2000 with a company that they've bought out and is no longer in service. I was told since they've merged that I couldn't work for them because of the fail. Even though I passed per screening now and the other is 17 yrs old. Well this follow me and prevent me from getting my career started?
