• Millis Transfer Company Overview

  Millis Transfer, Inc began hauling freight in 1944 and has since grown to more than 700 tractors, 2,200 trailers, and an additional 100 owner operators. They are a dry-van carrier with most of their freight originating and terminating in the Eastern half of the United States, although nationwide service is available.

  The majority of their freight hauling is based on regional or dedicated customer contracts. They have multiple terminals and drop yard locations throughout the eastern half of the country.

  In order to keep up with company growth, they opened the Millis Training Institute in 1989 in Kennesaw, GA to more easily recruit and train drivers. In 1994, they opened another training facility in Trenton, OH. Ten years later they opened another Richfield, WI in 2004.

  CDL School Requirements

  • All applicant must be twenty-one (21) years of age or older.
  • All applicants must have a current (with-in 60 days) DOT Physical
  • All applicants must be able to read, write, and speak the English Language sufficiently to communicate with the public.
  • All applicants must not have a major accident or major moving violation on their license with-in the past five (5) years.
  • All applicants must have a minimum of a High School education.

  • Must hold a valid CDL class A drivers License
  • No DUI/DWI convictions in the last 5 years
  • No felonies having a direct relationship to the job being applied for
  • Maximum of 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • Maximum of 2 preventable accidents in the past 3 years

  What items should I bring with me?

• Preparation For Millis Transfer CDL Training

  

  Do I need to get my CDL permit before attending school?

  Yes, students will study for and pass the permit CDL written exams in their home state before attending the Millis CDL program.

  Do I need a US Passport?

  Yes, drivers must obtain a valid US passport and be able to cross the Canadian border.

  Which CDL endorsements are required or encouraged?

  No endorsements are required and Millis Transfer does not transport hazardous cargo.

  You can never bring too much paperwork with you. Anything that could prove employment history, relevant medical records, and anything else that is specific to your life should be taken with you. It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it! The necessities include a valid Drivers License, original and non-laminated Social Security Card, and a Birth Certificate. Make a special note that you must study for and pass the CDL written exams in your home state to obtain your CDL driving permit before attending the Millis Transfer CDL school. Make sure you bring your permit with you.

  Even though Millis Transfer does not require any endorsements such as HazMat, we still recommend you study for and pass the HazMat, tanker, and double/triple endorsements as future opportunities may require these endorsements.
