New drivers start at .26 per mile with several increases in the first year up to .31 per mile after 12 months. Those who pay for schooling up front can start off at .28 per mile with their first increase at 6 months.
Each additional year drivers earn an extra .01 per mile up to a maximum of .42 per mile.

Initially, the starting pay is a bit low. But PAM offers bonuses every 3 months during the first year. By the time your first year is complete, the pay is actually above average for the dry van industry. We always stress that you should under no circumstances leave your first company before at least 1 year and especially not before your contractual tuition payment obligations are completed.
Initially, all drivers begin in the OTR division. After approximately 6 to 12 months drivers will become eligible for regional and dedicated positions. While drivers aren't able to put in for these positions, they will be nominated by their driver manager.
Regional and dedicated positions are offered based on seniority and driver performance. A large portion of the fleet does obtain a regional or dedicated account.
PAM does occasionally run NYC freight.
Yes, PAM drivers are forced dispatched in order to ensure maximum mileage for drivers.
PAM Transport drivers average approximately 2 weeks out with 2 days at home. If a driver goes by the house under a load it does not count against their home time.
About 80% of the freight at PAM is drop and hook.
No pets are allowed on any PAM trucks.
PAM Transport drivers can take a spouse, significant other or friend 18 years or older. Drivers may take a child, grandchild, step-child 13 years or older. There is no insurance fee for a spouse (marriage certificate), but for other passengers it will cost $26.50 per month.
PAM does not operate a leasing program.
PAM has a large number of regional and dedicated positions which usually become available after 6 to 12 months of employment.
PAM operates short haul, medium haul, as well as long haul freight. Initially, most drivers will begin in the OTR division hauling long haul and medium haul freight. But even in the OTR division, drivers will get home on average ever 2 to 3 weeks, which is more often than most other OTR carriers. After 6 to 12 months, drivers will become eligible for more regionalized and dedicated freight. It's important to note, however, that a regional or dedicated position is not guaranteed.
PAM operates modern equipment with an average tractor age of 18 months and have the following:
Yes, all drivers are required to use electronic logging systems.
Truck speeds are restricted to 65mph.
PAM is currently in the process of eliminating APU units on their trucks.
As with most larger companies, their trucks are generally newer and well maintained. They are currently switching over to an electronic logging system and all new drivers will start immediately using electronic logs.
Many trucks were equipped with APU's, but these are being removed from the trucks.
