Introduction to Cape Fear Community College

The Cape Fear Community College Truck Driver Training program is a 10-week program that sets individuals on the path to receive a commercial driver’s license (CDL) certificate. CFCC has a fleet of 15 trucks and 20 trailers of various types and sizes that help students prepare for their careers.

The Truck Driver Training curriculum prepares individuals to drive tractor trailers rigs. This program teaches proper driving procedures, safe driver responsibility, commercial motor vehicle laws and regulations, and the basic principles and practices for operating commercial vehicles.

Admission Requirements

  • Long Form Physical DOT Medical Card, and Pre-Employment Drug Screen (no more than 30 days old with the results faxed to CFCC).
  • DMV Driving Record.
  • You must be at least 18 years old, and have a valid NC Driver’s License with Class A CDL permit.
  • If you are a Veteran bring a copy of your Form DD214. If you are a child of a Veteran, bring a copy of your parent’s Form DD214 and a copy of your Birth Certificate.

Training for Veterans

CFCC recently received a grant for this program that allows the school to award over $50,000 in scholarship assistance for veterans and active duty military. Spouses and children of these service members are also eligible to apply for these scholarships.

Tuition

  • In-state residents: $1,160.50 (one year residency required)
  • Out-of-state residents: $3,464.50

Tuition may be paid by: Cash, Check, Credit Card or Money Order, Pell Grants are not offered for this program.
