Introduction to The CDL School

The Commercial Driver’s License School, Inc. (The CDL School) was founded in 1991, and is a full service truck driving school. Its founders recognized the role that education would play providing professionally trained individuals for a rapidly developing transportation industry. Since this time the school has drawn upon its lineage, which dates back to 1963 to provide high-quality, industry relevant, and effective commercial driving education programs and services. Since 1991 The CDL School has grown by offering programs that address the needs of all students.

What Programs Does The CDL School Offer?

The CDL School offers flexible rates and multiple programs which are designed to be affordable in both time and money. In all of the courses offered with The CDL School, students will learn the skills necessary to pass the exams for Class A, B, BPS, and C licenses.

Certified Courses

• Regional - 100 hours of training designed to prepare an individual for entry level employment within the industry. Ideal for students with limited time for training and who want to work locally in tri-county area.
• Advanced - 120 hours of training designed to prepare an individual for entry level employment within the industry. Ideal for students with limited time for training and who want to work locally in tri-county area.
• Professional - 160 hours of training designed to prepare an individual for entry level employment within the industry. Includes pre-screening and pre-hiring services. Applicants must submit a completed school application to be accepted by the admissions panel.
• Master Tractor Trailer Program - 186 hour program. The purpose of this program is to train an individual who has no Commercial Motor Vehicle experience for employment within the national ground transportation industry. This program was created in response to demand from industry employers and regulators for more education and training of new drivers. It includes pre-screening and pre-hiring services. Applicants must submit a completed school application to be accepted by the admissions panel.
• BP Intermediate - The purpose of this program is to train an individual who has no straight truck/bus driving experience for their CDL Class B or BPS skills exam. This course consists of a total of 60 hours, 40 hours of classroom training, 20 hours of vehicle training including the CDL Class B (BPS) Skills exam. This is a great starting point for entering the transportation industry.

Veteran Program

Troops Into Transportation is an initiative created by The CDL School and its partner trucking companies. Unlike traditional higher-education or vocational programs the CDL School is a Job-First program. Service members apply for acceptance and an employability determination is made. Only then are they scheduled for training and immediate placement upon graduation.
