Truck Driving Career Certificate Training Course

Our certificate includes 320 hours of education consisting of classroom and hands on yard and road training. In addition to driving skills, students learn map reading, trip planning, log keeping, vehicle systems, cargo handling, driving under adverse conditions, defensive driving and transporting hazardous materials. The mandatory written examination and driving test must be taken at a designated commercial driver's license testing center. Equipment for the driving test will be provided to ECC students. To be commercially licensed intrastate, students must be at least age 18; age 21 for interstate and/or to transport placarded hazardous materials.

Prerequisite: Consent of instructor. This course will include vehicle systems, D.O.T. rules and regulations, logs, and all legal topics of interest to trucking and transportation. Additional topics include defensive driving, cargo handling, hazardous materials.

This course is offered in the fall, spring and summer. The course is available at the Main Campus, Campus & Internet, Satellite Location, Internet Location.

  • Create a FSA ID at https://fsaid.ed.gov.
  • Complete the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Note: Paper FAFSAs are no longer available.
  • Complete an ECC Institutional Aid Application.
  • The Financial Aid and Scholarships Office may request additional information from you. Please submit requested documents as soon as possible.
  • Check your access ECC account to verify whether you have been awarded Financial Aid. Award letters will no longer be mailed. If you are not eligible for any grants and want information on student loans, stop by the Financial Aid & Scholarships office. If you are not eligible for any grants and you are not interested in a student loan, you must set up a payment plan or pay in full to guarantee that your classes will not be dropped. For more information on payment plans, contact the Student Accounts office.
