Kaskaskia College’s truck driving program provides in-classroom instruction along with in-the-truck training that will prepare you for over the road or short distance hauling, as well as training to become an Owner-Operator. Instructors have years of experience in the industry, and KC also works with trucking companies to ensure the program and its training are current and meet the needs of the trucking industry. KC assures prospective students that you can count on them to help you get a job with local and national companies. Recruiters will visit with you personally during your training.The school has partnered with Schneider National to offer graduates employment opportunities following their completion of the program.
KC prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to drive trucks and buses, delivery vehicles, for-hire vehicles, and other commercial vehicles. This includes instruction in operating gas, diesel, or electrically-powered vehicles, loading and unloading cargo or passengers, reporting delays or accidents on the road, verifying load against shipping papers, arranging transportation for personnel, and keeping records of receipts and fares.
The main goal of the Kaskaskia College Truck Driver Training Program is to provide students with the hands-on training and knowledge to obtain a Class A CDL certification and gain entry level employment as a CDL operator. This four-week program is designed for an individual with no commercial driving experience who is looking to enter the trucking industry. Students will learn Department of Transportation rules and regulations, log book upkeep, map reading and complete vehicle training which will prepare graduates to complete the Illinois Secretary of State administered Class A road test. You must pass a physical examination, drug test, and possess a valid regular driver's license prior to entering this program. Total tuition for the CDL-A training is $4,386.00. Tuition aid is available through FAFSA and scholarships that may be applied to through the school.
