Lufkin Truck Driving Academy

Lufkin Truck Driving Academy was started in 1997 by Kimberly Hill. She has been in the trucking industry since 1989. The philosophy of the school is to train and graduate highly skilled drivers for the truck driving industry. Classes begin every Monday at Lufkin Truck Driving Academy. They offer job placement and a small class size, usually 4 to 6 students.

What Programs Does Lufkin Truck Driving Academy Offer?

• Class A Course - 1st Week
  • Classroom portion including audio/visual aids, reference materials, textbook and lectures
  • Discussion on some of the main subjects are job placement, transportation rules, regulations procedures for Hours of Service (log books), trip planning, map reading, accident prevention and procedures
  • Will also cover the new CSA, Comprehensive Safety Analysis, and how it affects drivers and commercial motor vehicle fleets
  • There are comprehensive lectures over the written portion of the CDL exam
• Class A Course - 2nd, 3rd & 4th Weeks
  • Truck Driving portion - Students will learn the ability to safely maneuver a tractor-trailer on city streets, two lane roads and four lane divided highways under various traffic, weather and road conditions
  • Students will perform pre-trip vehicle inspection, coupling, uncoupling, backing maneuvers, sliding tandems, fifth wheel, double clutching, shifting, proper use of mirrors and preventive maintenance servicing
  • They will perform a skills test at the DPS office for the CDL license

Tuition And Financing

The tuition cost is $5,500. There are no additional fees for books, tools or equipment. Lufkin Truck Driving Academy offers cash discounts and scholarships if qualified. They also offer financing for qualified students.

Housing

The school offers housing for an additional cost of $650. There is an additional charge for single occupancy accommodations.
