Progressive Truck Driving School

Progressive Truck Driving School has three locations in Illinois for CDL training. They combine classroom instruction and on-the-road training for their CDL course. Get ready for some real-word training at this school: it's on-the-road training occurs on public streets and highways, not on a closed lot. The major benefit of Progressive is that it has only one or two students per truck for training.

What Programs Does Progressive Offer?

  • Class A CDL Truck Driving Training Course (200 Hrs) - This program is certified by PTDI and CVTA and meets or exceeds the basic hiring criteria for major truckload freight companies seeking drivers. The program includes the 160 hour curriculum, provides additional behind-the-wheel training, as well as eligibility for the Hazmat endorsement. Recommended for students that have never driven a manual transmission vehicle.
  • Class A CDL Truck Driving Training Course (240 Clock Hrs) - This program includes everything in the 200 hour curriculum. It contains training on a variety of truck configurations to accommodate those who want a more intensive behind-the-wheel experience, and a wider range of job opportunities, it includes eligibility for 3 endorsements: Hazmat Material, Double/Triples and Tankers.
  • Class A CDL Truck Driving Training Course (300 Clock Hrs) - This program includes everything in the 240 hour curriculum. This course has more time behind-the-wheel than the 240 hour program and includes eligibility for the Passenger endorsement, which is required for bus driving. This program is ideal for anyone who wants to take advantage of any and all opportunities in the truck and bus driving industry.
  • CDL Truck Driving Training Course (600 Clock Hrs) - This program is the most comprehensive one that we offer. It includes everything that is a part of the 300 hour program with more intense hands-on training. It is an in-depth course that addresses not only the body of knowledge a driver needs to know and understand, but teaches the procedures that, with practice, will enable the student to become an entry-level commercial truck driver. Safety practices are emphasized throughout the program. Many real-life driving problems and situations are presented for the student to resolve. The depth of this program is intended to stress the importance of developing traits and demonstrating the behavior that characterize true professional truck drivers.
  • Introduction to Trucking Class A or B or Passenger Driving Training Course (160 Clock Hrs) - This program provides basic knowledge and skills to prepare students for CDL exam. It familiarizes students with tractor-trailer and bus systems and components. Safe driving techniques and hands-on training in the vehicle are the basis of this program. This course offers minimum hours of instruction as required by the Secretary of State.
  • Upgrade Program to CDL Class A (80 Clock Hrs) - This program provides complete training and licensing opportunities for individuals currently holding a CDL class B license and seeking to drive a combination of commercial vehicles. This course will upgrade a CDL class B license to a CDL class A license.
