Suncoast Trucking Academy

SunCoast Trucking Academy opened it's doors in 2012.

SunCoast Trucking Academy provides a safe environment for people to learn to safely operate a commercial vehicle following the Federal Motor Carrier Regulations, Florida State Laws and all the requirements provided by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles. Their goal is to prepare each student to be a safe driver, thereby creating a safe environment for everyone sharing the roads. Students will study and train for the required exams administered by the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, which will be evaluated and finalized by a third party state examiner

As some are on the range, others will be out on the road working the gears. As skills progress, the challenges are increased until each student has the confidence to schedule his or her driving test. They take pride in the fact that they train all of their Students in an environment that encourages questions and opportunities for one-on-one training. This allows for a more personal experience and more time behind the wheel during the range and road training. Their Instructors have many years of experience in over-the-road driving, instructional training and state certified examination.

With new classes beginning every Monday, students are at different levels. This promotes a spirit of camaraderie among the students, as they share learning experiences and help each other work toward the excitement of embarking on their new career in the trucking industry.

CDL Training At SunCoast

At SunCoast Trucking Academy, the student will learn:

• How to complete log book management
• Understand general Haz Mat information
• Perform pre-trip inspections (PTI)
• How to drive a tractor trailer on the range - involving backing skills
• Road Training complete with shifting a non-synchronized transmission.

They conduct all skills tests at their facility.

To Get Your CDL

• A knowledge based written test (Learners Permit)
• A driver must score at least 80% accuracy on the knowledge test (completed at the DMV)
• Skills and driving test which include:
  • Pre-Trip Inspection ( Safety Inspection)
  • Perform Basic Skills Test (backing Maneuvers)
  • Road Test (50 min. road test)

Testing is conducted at SunCoast Academy. They have several Examiners on staff.
