No company will hire a R.S.O.

After reading This WHOLE thread, I think I might be able to offer some help/ insight as I am NOW in a similar boat. I am brand new to this site and created an account to respond and help other drivers / wannabe drivers!

1st. my situation is brand new and just happened in last few months so I am not filling out profile info yet. as far as employment goes, I was an owner/ operator for the last 4 years. Yes, I do have 23 yrs previous driving experience, local, regional, tank, doub. trip. no hazmat and don't want it no extra pay for it. its a liability.

BUT even if I was new CDL driver, it wouldn't matter! as I don't have to apply to anyplace, NO LEASING on to companies, true you dont get benefits, but I'm making $135-145 per Hr. I can buy my own beneies..:) I am now out on probation for 3 years (with possible reduction). all expenses are tax deductible

I cant STRESS ENOUGH! how LUCKY it is that I have my own truck and literally no one to report to except the guvmt. for tax, rules and reg, red tape! no MVR ect ect (no applications or background checks!) The only time I was out of work was while in custody. went right back to driving locally and my dispatcher still had work for me. I dont know if he knows why I wasnt available for 30 days or not, but he didnt ask:) and dont matter. My P/O knows I self employed and dont leave the state so nothing to worry about there.

My point is... the "easiest" arguably best way to get back on the road is BUY YOUR OWN TRUCK!! beg, borrow, beg more, finance, (small local area: Facebook driver trucking groups are good... who will dispatch you sent you to different jobs no application process usually just text messages where to go, when, ect ect.

the biggest and hardest downside to getting started is you must have some cash to float you untill you get jobs. is commercial insurance will be the biggest hurdle as its usually $20K yr for new O/O but most will do payments and understand you are new.

All this info pertains to dump trucking, in-state only, and nearly all construction jobs are weekends off M-F day hrs. and are variable with no set schedule, flexibility is MANDATORY. lucky to break 50 hrs. week all in all I wish I would have done this years ago, Id be in much better financial position and bought more trucks and in turn hire "legally challenged" drivers!

Good luck to anyone in these horrible situations feel free to ask any questions!business loan) whatever you have to do. maybe go in on a truck with a friend,?
