SweetT's Bio

Changing careers after 20 years, well at least its not a complete change. I have been in the Logistics world for 20+ years but instead of driving the trucks I have : Supervised, Loaded, Unloaded, Ran Shipping Office, Logistics Training Coordinator, WMS Super User

Now I'm starting fresh going to bounce around the country and Team with my hubby. I start school in a little over a week.

Pre CDL questions to ask at the school

I have my cdl permit and I am trying to figure out the right questions to ask a trucking school in my area. What would be some really good ones? Here's what I have come up with so far: 1) Are there any hidden costs? 2) Should I get my DOT physical before I start schooling? (Just in case there are issues I wasn't aware of) 3) Is housing rolled into the total cost of the program? (not close enough to where I live) 4) What is the MAXIMUM amount that I will be responsible for in payment? 5) Length of the contract?

I am sure there are a lot more, but I just want to know what everyone thinks. Any and all input is appreciated.

Thankyou Joshua F

C.D.L. Training Services & Consulting

I have officially enrolled C.D.L. Training Services & Consulting in Paducah, KY. My class will start the 27th of April and last 4 weeks. For the last 3 months I have been checking into training schools from talking to them over the phone to actually visting the ones within 2 to 3 hours of my location. I have agonized over this decision (leaving the familiar for the not so familiar) I have been with my current company for 20 years in the Logistics world just the other side(end) of the truck. This has always been my dream so why not go for the gusto. A major factor in choosing this school was its location (hubby is a driver with a dedicated route and passes through this area almost daily. This allows me to stay at a campground with easy access to a truck stop(for him) plus I can have my doggies with me during the training so I only have to board them when I go through orientation and actual company training. My plan is to add to this after each day of training (plan) is the keyword. dancing-dog.gif
