We have heard about teams, but that isn't something we could do. I don't even have a regular driver's license because I hate driving. Had a car wreck together as teens that broke my neck, and ever since then I just can't deal with driving. Hate it. Love riding with m, but I can't do any driving myself. I really wish I could.

Then to be honest, you would have to do without him during school, and probably during the first 2-3 months. There would be home time during that of course, but until a company trusts its driver then it would be solo. Besides time away is sometimes good for both people

That's what we were hoping to avoid. I understand having to spend some time apart while he is actually training, but if we can't find a company that is willing to let me ride day one after training, he will have to find another career. Neither of us can deal with being apart for long. Even over the course of his 12 hour work days on an ambulance we would both get terribly sick.

Alone time may be great for some couples, but it is utter hell on the two of us.

I've been browsing the forums for weeks, and I finally decided to register. My husband is a former firefighter and currently and EMT, but due to the ever-increasing cost of keeping his EMT certification and the low pay that doesn't justify the cost, he has finally had enough and is looking for a career change.

We aren't extremely picky, but we are looking for a company that:

• Has a training program, because we can't get financial aid because of tax issues
• Has a liberal rider program, because we NEED to be together and can't wait 30+ days after training for me to go with him
• Home time at least every 8 weeks, because our teenage daughter requires medical treatments every 8 weeks and we have to take her
• Medical insurance available (so NOT a lease purchase)

We have adult children who live with us and watch the younger ones, so that's no issue. We are just a couple that feels the desperate need to be together 24/7 and it will be hard enough making it through a few weeks of training without being together, but if the company requires a long time after training before I can ride with him, it will kill us.

He has dreamed of driving a truck his whole life. He has driven fire trucks with air brakes, has no points off his license, and it's one of the only careers we can think of where we can be together all the time.

Are there any companies that fit this bill? Seems like most of those that offer training have very little home time, practically require lease purchase, or require 30, 60, or even 90 days of solo driving before you can have a rider, and that just doesn't work for us. We get physically sick when we are apart for even a few hours, and the longer it goes, the worse it gets.

I have been looking through this site for weeks now seeking just the right company, but so far I haven't been able to find anything. Is there such a company? I've found a lot of places with day one rider policies, but none of them offer training. :(
